Coimbatore: The 74th Republic Day celebration was held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore on Thursday, with Dr. V Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor (TNAU) unfurling the national flag and delivering the Republic Day address.

She highlighted the contribution of TNAU towards the growth of agriculture. "The University has come out with a therapeutic rice, new version of idly rice, 5 millet varieties and India’s first non–GM herbicide tolerant rice," she highlighted.
Dr. V Geethalakshmi appreciated all the faculty members and the students of TNAU for helping TNAU in receiving the 8th rank among the Indian Agricultural Universities and ICAR’s Sardar Patel Outstanding Institution Award.
The University officers, scientists, staff, students, NCC cadets and NSS volunteers at the TNAU campus participated in the celebrations with enthusiasm and partiotic fervour.
