KCT sets up state-of-the art laboratory in analytical instrumentation with DST-FIST funding

This new research infrastructure in the area of Materials Science and Engineering will support faculty members to engage in solving industrial problems related to various domains such as Nanotechnology for Environmental and biological applications, Advanced Materials for diverse applications.



Coimbatore: Kumaraguru College of Technology (KCT) added yet another research infrastructure to its campus by inaugurating a state-of-the-art laboratory in analytical instrumentation.



Raised at the cost of Rs. 60 lakhs with funding from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), the lab was sanctioned under Fund for improvement of Science and Technology infrastructure in Universities and Higher Educational Institutions (FIST) scheme to KCT.



The lab was inaugurated by Dr. Paul K FOKAM, Chairman and CEO, Afriland First Group in the presence of Fondjo Guy Laurent, Vice-President, West Africa Bankers Association (WABA) in the campus on November 15. The laboratory has a Simultaneous Thermal Analyser STA8000, Perkin Elmer, Fluorescence Spectrometer FL6500, Perkin Elmer and Contact Angle Meter OSA11 besides Data Physics instruments.



This new research infrastructure in the area of Materials Science and Engineering will support faculty members to engage in solving industrial problems related to various domains such as Nanotechnology for Environmental and biological applications, Advanced Materials for diverse applications.



The lab will be utilized by start-ups/manufacturing industries/MSMEs for understanding the physio-chemical properties of the advanced materials to enhance their initiatives for achieving indigenous product development within the country.

Kumaraguru Institutions signed an MoU with PK FOKAM Institute, Cameroon for academic collaboration in Engineering, Technology, Management, Humanities other disciplines. The MoU was signed by Dr. Paul K FOKAM, Chairman and CEO, Afriland First Group in the presence of Dr Fondjo Guy Laurent, Vice President of the West Africa Bankers Association (WABA). Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent, Kumaraguru Institutions signed and exchanged the MoU with his counterpart from Cameroon.

Through this arrangement, Kumaraguru Institutions will extend its support in faculty and student exchange, handholding in curricular development, pedagogy, and research. KCT will also offer guidance for developing laboratories and strengthening the academic support systems at PK FOKAM Institute.
