TNAU has six Agricultural Incubation Centers at six different colleges under TNAU. Role of Biotechnology was introduced and explaining its vibrant development throughout the world and India and how a product development is being strengthened at Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
Coimbatore: Centre for Plant Molecular Biology & Biotechnology & Directorate of Agri Business Development, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore organized a two day event on Bio Entrepreneurship Ecosystem at TNAU during November 7 & 8, 2022. Around 60 entrepreneurs, start-up companies and faculties participated in this event.

Dr. V. Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU in her presidential address proudly announced that TNAU been awarded with Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel award as an outstanding institution award in 2022. TNAU has six Agricultural Incubation Centers at six different colleges under TNAU. The speech was more towards Biotechnology bio firm’s capacity building and outreach program. Role of Biotechnology was introduced and explaining its vibrant development throughout the world and India and how a product development is being strengthened at Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities.
She listed six main fields of development in TNAU like Research & Development, Creation of world class facilities in TNAU, Developing novel products, Nurturing young talents for skill development, Bio services promotion like GC-MS, HPLC from Centre of Plant Biotechnology, Department of Biotechnology building Programme.

Dr. M. K. Shanmugasundaram, IAS, Development Commissioner, MEPZ, Special Economic Zone, Chennai, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, Government of India in his inaguaral told that bioentrepreneurship comes from the stem of biotechnology. He also also told about commercial application of biotech and how it lead to bio entrepreneurship. He pointed out very good Bio-entrepreneurs from all over the world OzoneBio (Canada), Coston farms (USA). In India, leading Bioentrepreneurs are Biocon, Serum Institute, Bharath Biotech and Tissue Engineering in BITS Pilani.
The Keynote address was provided by Dr. K. K. Narayanan, Director, Sthayika Seeds, Bengaluru. All the presentation of products/technologies readily available for commercialization.

Irene Vedhamani, Dean, Horticultural College and Research Institute, Coimbatore were participated in this event and presented their products / technologies readily available for commercialization.
Earlier, Dr. M. Raveendran, Director of Research, TNAU, Coimbatore welcomed the gathering. Finally, Dr. N. Senthil, Director, CPMB&B, TNAU, Coimbatore proposed vote of thanks. All the University officers, HODs, research scholars and stake holders also attended the inaugural function.
