Popular orator Bharathi Baskar motivated the first-year students at the orientation saying, "Knowledge and Wisdom comes to those who have discipline and determination. Rishi Sunak and Sundar Pichai are not the toppers of their batch but their disciplined efforts helped them reach heights. If you are focused on your goals, you too can elevate to such levels."
Coimbatore: The Orientation Ceremony for the first-year students of BE, B.Tech., and M.Tech of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET) was held at the Sri Krishna Hall on campus.
This is the Silver Jubilee batch of the college and 1341 students have joined this year. S Malarvizhi, Managing Trustee, Sri Krishna Institutions presided over the event, while popular orator, Bharathi Baskar was the Chief Guest at the event.
"Knowledge and Wisdom comes to those who have discipline and determination. Rishi Sunak and Sundar Pichai are not the toppers of their batch but their disciplined efforts helped them reach heights. If you are focused on your goals, you too can elevate to such levels," expressed Bharathi Baskar at the Orientation Ceremony for the first-year students of Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET) on Friday.
Addressing the students, S Malarvizhi encouraged them to think of Sri Krishna Institutions as their second home. "You may be from different parts of Tamil Nadu, and a good number of you will be hostlers. Don't feel you are in a different territory but think of the college as your second home. Whatever challenges you face, feel free to share it with your professors, mentors or to me," she urged.
"Here you can enjoy freedom with discipline. What you do in these four years will dictate your future. A good job is assured for every student who sets foot here. We shall train you to get a very good job. But you have to make this a place to transform yourself into a good human being with culture and values, and we will guide you," added S Malarvizhi.
She also encouraged the students to be passionate with the activities they do in college and learn as many languages as possible. "Give only joy to your parents in these four years, and we will return here for a happy reunion with your parents in your final year," she concluded while urging them to 'Be Bold and Be You!'
Bharathi Baskar in her address also asked the students to enjoy college as advised by S Malarvizhi but with 'Freedom with Discipline.' Admiring the college and the way the orientation ceremony was hled, Bharathi Baskar expressed that SKCET is professional and serious about 'Education.'
In her direct address to the students, Bharathi Baskar also encouraged the students to celebrate friendship and mingle with all of their classmates because "diversity is the essence of life. If you don't have goals, find your goals, write it down and work towards it from today, at least for half an hour per day. Keep your eyes and focus, fixed on your goals. You may have distractions, arguments and unwanted politics hitting you; don't get yourself lost in them. Whatever you lack, try to improve them. Raise your hands and ask for help to improve yourself; and don't hesitate," reiterated the popular orator.
