TNAU organizes one-day orientation program on 'All About Scholarships' at its Coimbatore campus

As part of the mandatory activities of the Scholarship Cell, the one-day orientation program on 'All about Scholarships' was conducted for Institute Nodal Officers (INOs), administrative staff of all constituent and affiliated colleges at Anna Auditorium, TNAU, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University organized a one-day orientation program on 'All About Scholarships' for all its constituent and affiliated colleges at Anna Auditorium, TNAU in Coimbatore.

The Central and State Governments are focusing on providing a hustle-free platform for scholarships through a variety of schemes to students for their higher education. In order to strengthen the bridge between the Government-aided scholarship schemes and students, a Scholarship Cell was established at the office of the Dean (Agricultural College and Research Institute), TNAU, Coimbatore. The aim of the Scholarship Cell was to coordinate all the constituent and affiliated colleges of TNAU with Undergraduate, Diploma and Post-graduate Scholarships and fellowship-governed activities.

Dr. V Geethalakshmi, Vice-Chancellor, TNAU opened the 'Scholarship Cell” at Dean (Agriculture) AC & RI, Coimbatore.



In her inaugural address in the orientation programme, Dr. V Geethalakshmi explained that "Scholarship is a financial aid provided by the Government to students to reduce their financial burden for their higher education and create a strong foundation in their success. Various measures are being taken by the University to ensure that no student is deprived of getting the benefit from the Government. As a first step,'Scholarship Cell' is established in the Dean (AC & RI) Coimbatore to coordinate all the colleges for smooth functioning of scholarship-related activities. A 'Scholarship Manual' was also released at the event.

Dr. R Tamil Vendan, Registrar, TNAU delivered the keynote address at the event and instructed that all the college principals should ensure that all students are sensitized on various scholarships provided by the government and this should reach

them without any leakage. The Chairman of the Scholarship Cell, Dean (Agriculture), Dr. N Venkatesa Palanichamy said, "The Scholarship Cell' will guide the students regarding all type of scholarships and addressed the various welfare programs that are being conducted."

Deputy Registrars, Dr. N Ganapathy (Education) and Dr. S Muthuswamy (Affiliation) participated in the training program and highlighted the scholarship procedures and time limits, and timely submission of applications. Scholarship Nodal Officer, Dr. P G Kavitha explained about the various scholarship schemes of the Central and State Governments and the steps for applying through the National Scholarship Portal. The Indian Agricultural Research Institute (ICAR) Nodal Officers, Dr. K Prabhakaran and Dr. K Saraparwin Banu explained about ICAR scholarships and processes involved in ICAR-Accreditation. Scholarship Nodal Officer, Dr. R Sudhakar delivered the vote of thanks.



Principals, Assistant Professors and office staff from 18 constituent and 28 affiliated colleges under the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University participated in the orientation program.
