Coimbatore: IFFCO-MC Crop Science which is a joint venture between the Indian Farmers Fertilizer Cooperative Limited (IFFCO) and Mitsubishi Corporation held a Code Fest - the Hackathon program at the national level.
This Hackathon is conducted for improving or building a new software program to address issues on the supply chain related to the agro-chemicals.
The students of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) who participated in the competition were selected for the first round and competed as one among 13 teams on August 7. They were then invited to visit Pune for field work to get detailed credits on the specific problem along with Ideathon. After 10 days, they were then invited for a final presentation to present idea and prototype on September 3.
The 'Alpha Arrays' team comprised M.Sc (Ag) Bioinformatics students - J Infant Richard, S Divya, S Dilipraj, R Anitha and K K Pavitra who bagged the second place with a cash award of Rs.50,000.
The 'Apple Bearers' team consisting of MBA students - N Sivavishnu, K S Vishwa, S P Dijendragowda and T Vijay bagged the third prize with a cash award of Rs.30,000.
