Coimbatore: The Department of Biotechnology of Karpagam Institutions conducted an international workshop on 'Innovative CRISPR-based Diagnostics' in its Coimbatore campus on Tuesday.
The workshop was formally inaugurated by the Chief Guest, Dr. Amaladoss Amalraj, Senior Scientist, Temasek Polytechnic, Singapore who also was the resource person. Chief Executive Officer, K Murugaiah, Karpagam Institutions, Registrar Dr. M Palaniswamy, Dr. A Sangilimuthu, Professor and Head, Department of Biotechnology and Dr. C Rajkuberan, Organizing Secretary participated in the inaugural session.
The welcome address was delivered by Dr. A Sangilimuthu and the resource person Dr. Amaladoss Amalraj spoke on the role of CRISPR-based gene technology in detection and diagnosis of the SARS virus. The workshop concluded with a valedictory function and a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. C Rajkuberan.
