Coimbatore: Freshers who have joined various Undergraduate Programs at Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts & Science (KCLAS) were accorded a warm welcome as part of 'KCLAS Swagatham – 2022' held at the Kumaraguru campus in Coimbatore, on Wednesday.
'KCLAS Swagatham' is an annual event held for freshers and their parents to become familiar with the institution and the various opportunities that it offers. A total of 489 students were inducted this year into various Undergraduate Programs in KCLAS.
Delivering the welcome address, Dr. Vijila Kennedy, Principal of KCLAS highlighted the humble beginning of KCLAS with 132 students across four programs in 2018. KCLAS has now over 1000 students enrolled across 15 degree programs which include postgraduate and research programs.
Highlighting the B.A Tamil (Creative Writing), B.Sc Data Science and M.A Political Science programs launched this year, Dr. Vijila Kennedy emphasized on how KCLAS has been launching programs that are in sync with the industry requirements.
Shankar Vanavarayar, Joint Correspondent of Kumaraguru Institutions asked the students to use KCLAS as a launchpad to excel in the career path they choose. He said the learning process needs to start from Day 1 so that they are equipped by the time they complete their graduation. Throughout the day, both students and parents were guided towards knowing the college, its opportunities and possibilities, and to also understand the ecosystem in which they will engage.
For the next few days, students will be part of ‘Ignite,’ a boot camp that grooms the students, helps them understand the Kumaraguru ecosystem, introduce them to myriad opportunities and ensure that they smoothly transmit into tertiary education. This also involves a lot of aspects like ideating, planning, strategizing and involving student seniors who will lead the entire one week to 10 days.
