The MoU will facilitate an interface between Academia and Industry.
Coimbatore: Dr. Anil Kumar Pillai, General Manager and Head of Technical Services, Ramco Cements, Chennai and Dr P Thamarai, Principal of Government College of Technology signed an MoU in the presence of Dr. R Thenmozhi, the Head of Department, Civil, GCT, Coimbatore and A D Shanmuga Raja Hari, the Deputy General Manager, Ramco Cements in Coimbatore.
Talking about the MoU, Dr. Anil Kumar Pillai of Ramco Cements, Chenna said, "The MoU facilitates as an interface between the Academia and Industry. The GCT Civil Department students get an opportunity of visiting our cement production facilities and get updated with the technology and production involved, as well as the Quality and Testing procedures. Environmental regeneration technology is involved in the reclamation of mining lands, use of technology in conservative use of precious mining materials and new technology products with green certification.
The GCT faculty will interact with the scientists and faculty of Ramco Research and Development Center located in Chennai. This is a 40-crore research facility, the only one available in the entire South of India carrying out the development of new concrete technology, and the testing of materials and products with the latest equipment. We can now impart knowledge-sharing with each other for the good of society and the environment.
Workshops will be conducted with eminent speakers for the students of the Civil Engineering Department to improve their thinking abilities and knowledge in the Civil Engineering field. We will also now be able to showcase our new products and features to the future builders of India," he added.
