Coimbatore: Schools across Tamil Nadu reopened today after the summer holidays. Having been given summer vacation since last 13th, schools from 1st to 10th class started functioning from today after the holiday ended today.

Coimbatore has 193 government and government aided schools, 465 private schools and 658 high schools. There are more than 1200 elementary and middle schools. Students from 1st to 9th class were given summer vacation by holding the final examination of the year from 5th to 12th of last month. With the holidays ending yesterday, all schools are open today for grades 1 to 10.
The Chief Minister has congratulated the students who came to the schools today. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin has extended his congratulations to all the wealth of children.

He said that for one week from today, refresher training, moral and psychology classes will be conducted for all students and regular lessons will be conducted one week later.
Steps are being taken to increase student enrollment in schools, identify students who have dropped out of school and re-admit them to schools, he said.
In addition, textbooks have been sent to government and government-aided schools in education districts including SS Kulam, Perur and Pollachi. An order has been issued to provide free textbooks to students through head teachers, he said.
