Coimbatore 02 Jun : Department of Instrumentation and Control Engineering & Institution's Innovation Council of Tamilnadu College of Engineering conducted a workshop on "Industrial Automation" at the college Seminar Hall on 02 Jun 2022.
Coimbatore: The aim of the workshop was to provide knowledge and hands-on training to the second and third year Instrumentation and Control Engineering students on Programmable Logic Controller (PLC).
First an overview of PLC, SCADA and DCS was presented briefly to the students. Mitsubishi PLC was displayed and shown to the students. Mainly the internal parts along with wiring were explained to the students by the resource person. The resource person was Mr. M Suseen (Alumni of Instrumentation and Control Engineering of TCE). At present he is the Project Manager at A2F Technology, Chennai.

Introduction to Industry 4.0 and its benefits were discussed to brush up the knowledge of students. Hands on training on PLC,Ladder Logic Programming in Mitsubishi PLC were provided to the students in theafternoon session. Mr.Balamurali, Electrical Engineer, A2F Technology demonstrated the PLC wiring and engaged the students to do the wiring connections on their own.
Later the students with the resource persons discussed the job opportunities available for instrumentation engineers in India & abroad and the important role the instrumentation engineers can play for the welfare of the society in general. The workshop enriched the students with practical knowledge on PLC.
