Coimbatore: The department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of the Karpagam Engineering College organized a National level Workshop called “Towards Sustainable Future: Design of Renewable Energy Systems†on 10.05.2022.
Dr.V. Tamilselvan The head of the EEE department, introduced the resource persons and gave the welcome address. Dr.V. Vanitha, the resource person and coordinator of the event started the session with an introduction to the current energy scenario in the world and India. She also highlighted the importance of renewable energy and microgrid in the sustainable development of a country.
She also discussed the design of components used in small renewable energy power systems such as solar PV, wind, and biomass for residential applications keeping in view the conditions of load, availability of wind, solar radiation, etc.

In the afternoon session, Mr.P. Gajendran briefed on the IoT application in renewable energy systems by exhibiting it with the help of a hardware setup. He also elaborated on the various simulation software available for the design of renewable energy systems.
