Coimbatore: Karpagam College in Coimbatore held a national-level seminar on Ilakkiyangalil Mann-Marabum-Manudam (Soil-Heritage-Human in Literature) on Monday, March 28.
The Karpagam Academy of Higher Education's Department of Languages, Tamil Division organized the national seminar at the University campus. Dr. R Madan Kumar, Professor and Coordinator, Department of Languages, Department of Tamil delivered the welcome address on the occasion. Dr. N V Balaji, Principal, Arts, Science and Anthropology, Karpagam Higher Education Institute delivered the felicitation address, while Prof. Dr. P Thamizharasi, Principal, Student Welfare delivered the keynote address. She spoke of literature as "a symbol of culture, an explanation of soil and tradition and of how our tradition has expanded to mankind on a global scale."

Dr. T Umadevi, Professor, Department of Modern, Indian Languages and Literature, University of Delhi who was the Chief Guest for the occasion, highlighted that the characters of Kada Ezhu Vallalgal, including Karnan from Mahabharat, are a symbol and tradition of the soil. She reiterated that generosity was also the uniqueness of mankind.
