Research & Innovation Forum, Faculty of Pharmacy, in association with Initiative of Institution’s Innovation Council, Karpagam Academy of Higher Education, Coimbatore organized an Expert talk on 'Process of Innovation Development and Technology Readiness Level and Commercialization of Lab Technologies and Tech-Transfer' on February 25. The event was held between 2 pm and 4 pm. The Speaker of the program was Dr. Prasanna Ramani, Associate Professor in Chemistry, Department of Sciences, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham in Coimbatore.
The programme was held at the Seminar Hall of the Faculty of Pharmacy and was inaugurated by Meetu Kanwar, 4th year B.Pharm, Faculty of Pharmacy, KAHE with a welcome message. Subhasree, 4th year B.Pharm, Faculty of Pharmacy, KAHE presented the Speaker Profile to the audience, emphasising the significance of the topic and session.
Dr. Prasanna Ramani, Associate Professor in Chemistry, Department of Sciences, School of Engineering, Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham, Coimbatore delivered a talk on 'Process of Innovation Development and Technology Readiness Level, and Commercialization of Lab Technologies and Tech-Transfer.' He gave an overview about the TRL, Selecting Partners based on TRL and the Impact of TRL.
He also narrated in the context TRL according to the European Association of Research and Technology Organizations – EARTO. He explained the history of TRL and different levels in Technology Readiness level and how it evolves from science to commercialization. In discussing the Impact of TRL, he stated the stage of development highlighting the scope in the Pharmaceutical sector. He also mentioned the Invention Disclosure and Conflict of Interest among faculty vs university, or start up vs university.

After the discussion, an interactive question and answer session was held in which the speaker painted a clear image of consistent and uniform discussions of technical maturity across different types of technology.
49 students and 8 faculty members took part in the event. Dr. K Elango, Professor, FOP, KAHE appreciated the Speaker for impacting the audience and lauded the depth of the concept delivered. Along With Dr. K Elango, Dr. D Kumudha, Dean In-charge, FOP, Dr.G Saravanan, FOP, IIC Ambassador, Dr. Sathianarayanan, Professor, FOP, appreciation certificates were presented to the Speaker, with the event concluding at 4 pm.
