The Tamil Nadu Governor, R N Ravi conferred degrees to undergraduates, postgraduates and research scholars in TNAU and affiliated colleges.
Coimbatore: The 42nd Convocation was held at the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) in Coimbatore with the State Governor, R N Ravi conferring degrees to the graduates.
The Tamil Nadu Governor, R N Ravi conferred degrees to 88 undergraduate, postgraduate and research scholars of TNAU and affiliated colleges.
A total of 2602 persons will be awarded degrees.
30,230 candidates have bachelor's degrees, 11,397 have master's degrees and 3504 have research degrees through the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University.
He congratulated the teachers who helped in moulding these graduates.
The TN Governor then delivered a special address on the occasion and congratulated the graduates."The agriculture resources were better before colonization in India and food shortages occurred in the country, post-colonization. However, India has grown to meet the food needs of other countries now," stated the Governor.
The Governor also added that the Prime Minister has announced various development schemes to improve the livelihood of farmers. The Tamil Nadu Agricultural University Vice-Chancellor, N Kumar, Secretary, Agricultural Research and Education, New Delhi, Director General of Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi, Dr. Triulochan Mohapatra, District Collector Sameeran, Coimbatore City Police Commissioner and others were present on the occasion.
