Coimbatore: The Department ofSocial Work, Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and Travancore Foundation Education and Research Centre on Aging (TF ERCA), Kottayam, Kerala, to start a new program on Post Graduate Diploma in Geriatric Care and Management (PGDGCM) in this academicyear - 2021-22.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was inked in this regard by Professor K Murugavel, Registrar, BharathiarUniversity and Dr. Renu Abraham Varughese, Founder, Director and Chairperson of Travancore Foundation in the presence of Professor P Kaliraj, Vice Chancellor of Bharathiar University, Program Nodal Officer, Professor F X Lovelina LittleFlower, Dean,College Development Council and Head of the Department of Social Work, Bharathiar University, Deans and faculty members of the university.
According to a source from the varsity, the PGDGCM program focuses on interdisciplinary geriatric care management with fieldwork practice and prepares graduates to meet the challenges of elder care andopens an opportunity to choose a career path in the field of geriatrics.
Candidates with a Bachelor's degree in any discipline can apply for this one-year course which consists of two semesters. Faculties from the Social Work Department and TF ERCAalong with field experts from reputed institutes will guideanddeliver the program components.
