Coimbatore: The Annual GRGSMS Industry Day 2021 was organised virtually on 6th March, 2021. This year's theme was, ‘The impact of Digital Transformation on Industry: Challenges for Management Education’.
The inaugural session was held from 9.45am to 10.20am and a Panel discussion took place from 10.30am - 12.20pm.
Dr Nandini Rangaswamy, Chairperson, GRG Institutions welcomed the gathering and Vijay Thadhani was the Chief Guest at the event who then delivered the inaugural address.
The speakers on the panel were drawn from among eminent academics and industry professionals including from international partner institutions.
The panel speakers included Dr Ida Badiozaman, Head of School (Design & Arts) and Director of the Center for Education Research, Swinburne Sarawak, Malaysia, Maya Sreekumar, Vice President, Cognizant, Coimbatore Prashanth Subramanian, Executive Director, Quadra systems Net (India), Coimbatore, Thomas Spencer, Head of Undergraduate Programmes, Nottingham Business School, UK, Dr Madhu Veeraraghavan, Director, TAPMI, Manipal, Dr Bhimaraya Metri, Director, IIM, Nagpur.
Prof. S Balasubramanian, Director, GRGCAS moderated the session.
The panel speakers shared their thoughts and perspectives on the topic and then addressed the following pertinent questions during the event. Some of the questions included:
1. To what extent will technological advancements, including but not limited to artificial intelligence, machine learning, automation, and robotics impact the practice of management?
2. How will the current trends in digital transformation impact work/job of the future?
3. What kind of skills will be needed for the jobs and occupations of the future?
4. What ought to be the focus of management education for the future?
