All the seats in the government, government aided and private engineering colleges in Tamilnadu are filled every year through counselling. However, the counselling process for this year has been delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Under the circumstances, a council formed by Tamilnadu Department of Higher Education conducted a meeting regarding this on June 29 at Anna University. Department of Higher Education Secretary Apoorva, Directorate of Technical Education Vivekanandan and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
The following decisions were taken at the meeting:
1. Classes for all BE and BTech colleges courses for all second year, third year and final year students will commence on August 16.
2. Classes for first year students will commence on September 15 as ordered by the Department of Higher Education.
3. The counselling for engineering courses should be completed before August 30.
It is to be noted that the UGC has advised that admission of students into engineering colleges all over the country must be completed by the end of August.
