Protesting against the TASMAC outlet in Kaniyur - Mathapur road near Kaniyur, women wielded broom sticks and lay siege to the land lord Ramasamy who has rented out his shop to the TASMAC out let.
Earlier Protesters have forced the new TASMAC outlet to down shutters, which was opened in the area on Wednesday before turning their ire against the land lord who had given out his premises for rent to establish a TASMAC outlet in the area.
"Even though we have petitioned District Collector TN Hariharan, a new TASMAC shop was opened in the area on Wednesday. We have warned that no one should lease out their premises to TASMAC outlet but one Ramasamy has rented out his shop so we have gathered with broom sticks to show our opposition" the protesting women said.
Police and the local VAO arrived on the scene and pacified the protestors.
