Namma Metro’s Green Line launch on June 17

t's official! The much-awaited launch of operations on Reach 4, 4A and underground section of the Green Line will take place on June 18 after the line is inaugurated by President Pranab Mukherjee on June 17.

The Green Line will connect Nagasandra in North Bengaluru with Yelachanahalli in the south. The entire journey is expected to take 45 minutes. Initially, there will be a train every 6 minutes, a BMRCL official said.

Sources said that the Commissioner of Metro Rail Safety has given the safety clearance; the official documents are expected to reach BMRCL this week. BMRCL is expected to comply with the recommendations, including an opening of entry points at Chikpete and K.R. Market, before the launch, an official said.

According to sources, the inauguration function is most likely to be held at Vidhan Soudha, like in the case of the underground section of the Purple Line last year.
