The Kongu Global Forum (KGF) consisting of representatives from 7 Districts of Western Tamil Nadu including Coimbatore, Tiruppur, Erode, Salem, Namakkal, Karur and the Nilgiris met up with Chief Minister Edapadi K Palanisamy and submitted a memorandum consisting of developmental activities to be taken up for the region.

According to Vanitha Mohan, Convener of KGF, the Directors of KGF called upon the Humble Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu Edapadi K Palanisamy and SP Velumani, Minister for Municipal Administration and Rural Development, at Chennai to discuss the developmental needs of their region.

The panel stressed upon the Airport expansion project, which given top priority during the meeting. “Even though Coimbatore airport was declared as an International airport way back in 2011, there exists only inadequate air connectivity, especially international connectivity. “Lack of water supply facilities has not only hampered farming operations but also impacted day-to-day living for its citizens” the representatives told the Chief Minister.

The representatives of KGF also wanted the CM to hold a deliberation on how to put the region on a higher growth trajectory to which the Chief Minister has consented  and promised  to convene a meeting at the earliest.
