Poornitha, a transgender of Othakalmandapam has petitioned District Collector TN Hariharan to protect her against harassment meted out by fellow transgenders.
In the petition she has mentioned that functionaries of Transgender Jamat, an organization has threatened her of dire consequences if she quit their forum and force her to enter flesh trade. Poornitha said that she had complained about this to police but no action was taken on the offenders.
