The City Corporation officials have retrieved a total of 4.06 acres of lands, worth about Rs. 37.85 crores in the market price. The lands have been encroached upon by private parties and used for commercial purposes over the years.
In a drive carried out to retrieve the encroached lands the civic officials evicted the encroachers and in Vadavalli Lakshiminagar, Kalapatti Maharaja Nagar, Hudco colony, Kumiamuthar Palaniappa Konar nagar.
The evicted encroachments have been found to be on allocated space for Corporation Park and children play sites. “The corporation has erected boards on the retrieved lands to ward off offenders” he said.
“The retrieved reserve sites would be used to lay parks, nurseries and play areas’ said K.Vijayakarthikeayan.
