The man-animal conflict has touched a new high in recent times due to which many precious human lives have been lost. These rising cases of human death is due to official apathy which is reticent to take action on resorts, colleges, Universities and a Yoga center, which are situated in elephant corridors said V.Ramamurthy, CPM District President.
In a statement released here Ramamurthy has said and alleged “that the District Administration has been callous about the lives of poor people living on the fringes of forest. Precious lives including that of 13 –year old child has been lost due to apathy of officialdom in the rogue elephant attack on Friday” He alleged.
Educational institutions like Amrita University, Karunya University, Isha Yoga Centre and many resorts including Tamira resorts, and ACC cement factory are situated smug in the middle of elephant corridors, which are used by elephants during migration period and for travelling one forest patch to the other.
Wondering as to why the District Administration has turned a Nelson’s eye and not acted on the complaint given by Forest Department to evict these institutions and resorts, Ramamurthy has stated that if the district administration continued to turn their back on the rising man-animal conflict situation, which is rising day by the day the CPM would organize struggles and engage in direct action to retrieve forest land from these institutions and resorts, which has led to many cases of human deaths in recent times Ramamurthy said.
