Mettupalayam MLA Sunil Anand Promises Crackdown on TASMAC Shops, Traffic Woes

TVK MLA Sunil Anand assured that all election promises made to the people of Mettupalayam would be implemented, including action against TASMAC shops causing public inconvenience, measures to reduce traffic congestion, and steps to address drinking water issues in the constituency.


Coimbatore: Mettupalayam: TVK cadres and functionaries, led by Coimbatore North District Secretary Rajkumar, welcomed MLA Sunil Anand with drums, fireworks, and celebrations on his return to the constituency after assuming office as a Member of the Legislative Assembly. He later garlanded the statues of Anna and Mahatma Gandhi and participated in a thanksgiving event organised for party workers and supporters.



Speaking to reporters, Sunil Anand thanked TVK leader Vijay for giving him the opportunity to contest the elections and expressed gratitude to the people of Mettupalayam for electing him.

He stated that all promises made during the election campaign would be taken to the attention of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and efforts would be made to fulfil them. He also said that four TASMAC liquor shops functioning around the Mettupalayam bus stand and causing inconvenience to the public had already been closed and relocated.

Sunil Anand further assured that action would be taken against TASMAC shops wherever the public raises complaints regarding nuisance and inconvenience.

Highlighting the growing traffic congestion in Mettupalayam, the MLA said it remains a major issue as the town serves as a key gateway for tourists and commuters travelling to hill stations such as Ooty and Kotagiri. He stated that discussions would be held with traffic police officials and the police department to identify effective measures to reduce congestion and improve traffic movement in the town. He also said efforts would be taken to implement long-term solutions, including a bypass road project.

The MLA further assured that drinking water issues faced by residents would be addressed on priority. He added that grievances and problems faced by people across the constituency would be heard carefully and necessary steps would be taken to provide timely solutions.
