To cater to the increasing travel demand, Southern Railway will operate weekly special trains between Sambalpur in Odisha and Podanur in Coimbatore from September 9 to November 27, 2026. The services will operate via Salem, Erode and Tiruppur.
Coimbatore: Southern Railway has announced the operation of weekly special train services between Sambalpur in Odisha and Podanur to cater to the travel requirements of the increasing number of passengers. The trains will operate via Salem, Erode and Tiruppur.
Accordingly, Train No. 08311 Sambalpur–Podanur Weekly Special will leave Sambalpur at 11.35 am on Wednesdays from September 9 to November 25, 2026, and reach Podanur Junction at 1.30 am on Fridays. A total of 12 services will be operated.
In the return direction, Train No. 08312 Podanur–Sambalpur Weekly Special will leave Podanur Junction at 1 pm on Fridays from September 11 to November 27, 2026, and reach Sambalpur at 11.15 pm on Saturdays. This service will also operate for 12 trips.
The trains will halt at several stations, including Jolarpettai, Salem, Erode and Tiruppur. The Sambalpur–Podanur service will reach Salem at 8 pm on Thursdays, Erode at 9.15 pm and Tiruppur at 10 pm.
On the return journey, the Podanur–Sambalpur special will leave Tiruppur at 1.55 pm on Fridays, reach Erode at 2.50 pm and Salem at 3.55 pm.
