While the vicious tentacles of casteism, communalism and religious radicalism are on the rise, rationalism propounded by Thanthai Periyar could be the right answer for all the social ills, said K. Veeramani, President of Dravidar Kazhagam.
K. Veeramani who was in the city to participate in an interaction programme with the Dravida Kazhagam (DK) cadres questioned if the Governor inspected the state health department before rating it good.?
"The Governor speech in the assembly should have been one drafted by the people in the Government" Veeramani observed
While taking a dig at the “Aanmiga Arasiyal” (spiritual politics) advocated by actor Rajnikanth, he said while spirituality is concerned with monks and saints, politics is the business of politicians. Where is the meeting point between the two? K. Veeramani demanded to know.
"While noting that politicians have been good ‘actors’ in recent times, it is doubtful whether film actors can be good politicians." K. Veeramani said.
While asking the government to resolve the busmen strike by holding meaningful dialogues, with the labour unions, the Dravidar Kazhagam leader said that suggestion of the Courts on the privatization of the public transport system is tantamount infringing on the rights of the policy decisions of the state government, which is not a good sign.
