Coimbatore Panchayats Invited to Apply for Social Harmony Award with Rs 1 Crore Prize

Tamil Nadu Government invites applications for Social Harmony Panchayat Award 2026-27 in Coimbatore, offering Rs 1 crore incentive to panchayats promoting caste-free social harmony. Applications accepted until July 15, 2026. District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar announced the details.


Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Government's Adi Dravidar Welfare Department has invited applications for the Social Harmony Panchayat Award for 2026-2027. This award scheme is implemented to honor panchayats that ensure caste-free social harmony and promote community unity at the grassroots level.

The Tamil Nadu Government recognizes 10 eligible panchayats annually with a special Social Harmony Panchayat Award and an incentive of Rs 1 crore each. This award scheme aims to enhance social unity at the panchayat level and encourage local bodies to work towards eliminating caste-based discrimination.

District Collector Pawan Kumar Giriyappanar announced that panchayats wishing to receive the Social Harmony Panchayat Award for 2026-27 can submit their application forms along with necessary documents by 5:00 PM on July 15, 2026.

The application form for the award can be downloaded from the website https://cms.tn.gov.in/cms_migrated/document/forms/social_award_app_26_27.pdf. Alternatively, applicants can directly approach the Coimbatore District Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare Office to obtain the application form.

The district administration has urged panchayats working towards strengthening social harmony to utilize this opportunity and submit their applications before the deadline.
