Coimbatore: It was a day to cherish for the Villagers of Maanar as they celebrated Pongal festival with the Coimbatore City Police on Sunday, January 7. The celebration named as "Kattu Pongal" was initiated this year by P. Moorthy, Superintendent of Police.

Ahead of the Pongal day which falls on January 14, the people of Maanar Village, near Pillur were filled in jubilation as they celebrated the Pongal festival along with the Police. Led by DSP Chandramohan, the police and the villagers jointly cooked Pongal using mudpots, the traditional way and wished propserity to each other.
"Such inclusive celebrations certainly strengthens the bond between the police and the public", the officials said.

Last year, the "Kattu Pongal" was celebrated in Sadivayal village near Alandurai and Inspector General of Police, West Zone, Pari was the Chief Guest for the celebration.
