The Kothari court which heard the case pronounced the person guilty of killing rare wildlife, which is protected under Wildlife Protection Act 1972
A 7-year-old leopard was found dead in a private tea estate in September 2017 and the postmortem report revealed that it was killed by a trap set in the estate.
Investigations conducted by Ranger Srinivasan revealed that one S. Rajan had set a trap and killed the leopard. The judge also levied a fine of Rs. 10,000 on Rajan for killing the leopard.
