Petition Filed for Immediate Fencing of Disputed Land in Sulur

A petition was submitted to Sulur Town Panchayat Executive Officer demanding immediate fencing of a disputed 400 sq meter government land near Sulur Sunnat Jamaat Mosque, despite orders issued nine months ago.

Coimbatore: The Hindustan People's Service Movement has filed a petition with the Sulur Town Panchayat Executive Officer, demanding immediate action to fence a disputed government land in Sulur, Coimbatore district. The land in question is a 400 square meter (10 cents) area near the Sulur Sunnat Jamaat Mosque, opposite the Tahsildar's office on Market Road.

Despite orders issued by the district administration and the Revenue Divisional Officer (South) on October 18, 2023, to fence the land, no action has been taken for the past nine months (270 days). The petitioners met with the Sulur Town Panchayat Executive Officer today to discuss the delay in implementing the order.

The petition requests immediate fencing of the land to prevent encroachments, unauthorized parking of vehicles, and setting up of shops in the disputed area. Additionally, the Hindustan People's Service Movement has submitted a separate petition to the Superintendent of Police, seeking police protection and cooperation during the fencing process.

The petitioners have warned that if no action is taken, they will resort to a unique form of protest by submitting petitions in front of the District Collector's office. They emphasize the urgency of the matter and call for swift action from the authorities to resolve the issue.

Lotus Manikandan, representing the Hindustan People's Service Movement, stated that they are determined to see this issue resolved and will continue to pursue the matter until appropriate action is taken by the district administration.
