The Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumers’ Association (TECA) has welcomed the State government’s White Paper on the TNEB and the decision not to revise electricity tariffs for now, saying the measures would enhance transparency in the power sector while offering relief to industrial, commercial and domestic consumers.
Coimbatore: The Tamil Nadu Electricity Consumers Association (TECA) has welcomed the State government's presentation of the long-awaited White Paper on the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, describing it as a significant step towards improving transparency and providing greater clarity on the power sector, electricity supply, and consumption patterns in Tamil Nadu.
TECA president Santhosh also welcomed the announcement that there would be no revision in electricity tariffs at present, saying the decision would provide much-needed relief and predictability to industrial, commercial and domestic consumers amid prevailing economic challenges.
In a statement, the association said the White Paper would help consumers and stakeholders better understand the financial and operational position of the power sector, while also encouraging informed public discourse on electricity generation, distribution and pricing.

TECA said the decision to defer any tariff revision was particularly important for industry and businesses, which are already navigating cost pressures and economic uncertainty. It added that stable power tariffs would help consumers plan better while supporting broader economic activity in the State.
The association reiterated its commitment to engaging constructively with policymakers and sector stakeholders to ensure that electricity pricing remains fair, transparent and aligned with consumer interests. It also urged the government and power utilities to continue efforts to improve the reliability, efficiency and quality of power supply without compromising affordability.
Expressing confidence in the reform measures being pursued by the Electricity Minister, TECA said these initiatives could contribute meaningfully to the long-term growth and modernisation of Tamil Nadu's power sector.
The association further said it looked forward to continued dialogue with the government on sustainable energy policies and sectoral reforms that would benefit consumers, industry and the wider power ecosystem across the State.
