Studio Owner Ordered to Pay Compensation for Not Delivering Wedding Video

In Coimbatore, a consumer court has ordered a studio owner to pay damages for not providing a wedding video and photos to a client, despite receiving payment.

Coimbatore: A local studio owner has been ordered by the Coimbatore Consumer Court to pay compensation for failing to deliver a wedding video and photos. Indhumathi K. Mayilsamy of Saravanampatti, along with her family members, had contracted Nat Photography in Gandhipuram to capture their wedding event and paid a sum of ₹1,35,000 in advance.

Despite completing the recording, the studio did not deliver the wedding video or photos and subsequently moved to a new location without informing the clients. The family faced significant distress, unable to showcase the event to other family members.

The matter was taken to the consumer court after the studio refused to refund the amount or provide the videos when approached at the new address. Judge Thangavelu ruled that the studio owner must refund the paid amount plus an additional ₹2,50,000 as compensation for mental distress and ₹5,000 towards court expenses.
