Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force Conducts Training in Mettupalayam Amid Orange Alert

In anticipation of heavy rains predicted by the Chennai Meteorological Centre, a 30-member Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force team practices emergency protocols in Mettupalayam, Coimbatore.


Coimbatore: Following an orange alert issued by the Chennai Meteorological Centre for possible heavy rainfall, the Tamil Nadu Disaster Response Force (TNDRF) has been brought into action. A training exercise was conducted for a team consisting of 30 members in Mettupalayam.




The force, led by Deputy Inspector Sridhar, undertook various training sessions in handling potential emergency situations such as road blockages from fallen trees, rescue operations during floods and clearing debris from collapsed structures using modern machinery. The team, split with 10 members dispatched to Anaimalai, ensures readiness amidst the monsoon season. This proactive measure aims to mitigate the impact of potential calamities and safeguard the residents of Coimbatore district.


According to Tamil Nadu government announcements, this training is part of larger disaster preparedness efforts to enhance response capabilities.
