Man Arrested for Transporting Ganja Near Sulur Kangayampalayam Checkpoint

Sulur police detained a man for transporting ganja near the Kangayampalayam checkpoint yesterday after receiving a tip-off about drug trafficking.


Coimbatore: In a significant crackdown on drug trafficking, Sulur Police apprehended a 49-year-old man from Tirupur district named Kannan for allegedly transporting ganja. The arrest occurred near the Kangayampalayam checkpoint after police received confidential information regarding ganja being transported into the Sulur region for sale.

Upon conducting a vehicle check near the checkpoint, authorities discovered and seized 5 kilograms of ganja from Kannan's possession. Following the seizure, he was arrested and presented before the court, which remanded him to custody.

The operation marks a crucial step in combating illegal drug trade in the region, aimed at curtailing the spread of such substances.
