Pollachi School Students Visit Government Hospital for Dialysis Awareness

64 students from Shanthi Matriculation School, Pollachi, visited the dialysis unit at Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital for educational training on kidney health and treatments.


Coimbatore: In a bid to raise awareness about kidney health and treatments, 64 students from Shanthi Matriculation School in Pollachi visited the dialysis unit at the Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital. The educational visit aimed to provide students with firsthand knowledge about kidney-related issues and medical interventions.

Dr. Vanaja, head of the General Medicine Department and Dialysis Unit, led the informative session. She explained in detail how kidneys lose their function, available treatments, kidney transplantation, and dialysis procedures. The doctor emphasized the importance of maintaining kidney health and preventing kidney diseases.



Dr. Vanaja highlighted the primary causes of kidney failure, including uncontrolled diabetes and high blood pressure. She stressed the significance of following prescribed medications, not skipping doses, and maintaining a regular exercise routine. The medical team underscored these factors as crucial in preventing kidney-related complications.

The educational session was attended by Nursing Supervisor Gowri and Dialysis Technician Anusuya, who supported the doctor's explanations and answered students' queries.

The school students expressed their gratitude to the doctors and hospital staff, stating that the training was highly beneficial. They appreciated the opportunity to learn about kidney health and the importance of preventive measures directly from medical professionals.

This initiative by the Pollachi District Government Headquarters Hospital demonstrates a commitment to community health education, particularly in raising awareness about kidney diseases and their prevention among young students.
