Final voters’ list released

As many as 46,576 voters were added to the voters’ list in the 10 Assembly constituencies in the Coimbatore district to take the total number of voters to 28,33,249.

The details became available in the final rolls the Collector Archana Patnaik published in Coimbatore on Friday.

The maximum addition was in the Kavundampalayam Assembly constituency, where the officials added 8,690 voters to the list. The minimum addition to the voters list was in the Valparai constituency – the officials added 1,495 names to the voters’ list.

A good number of transgenders made use of the opportunity in that 177 persons applied and of those the officials accepted the application of 176 persons.

After the addition of new voters, Kavundampalayam is the constituency with the highest number of voters - 4.10 lakh.

The constituency with the lowest number of voters in the district is Valparai - 1.96 lakh voters.

In The Nilgiris, Collector P. Shankar released the finals for the district with three Assembly constituencies. He said that in the recent exercise to revise the voters’ list, the officials had added 7,867 voters.

After the addition, Udhagamandalam Assembly constituency had two lakh voters (97,290 men and 1,02,848 women), Gudalur Assembly constituency had 1.78 lakh voters (87,933 men and 90,209 women) and the Coonoor Assembly constituency had 1.85 lakh voters (89,637 men and 95,937 women).

In Tirupur, the photo electoral rolls released by the election officials on Friday indicate that a total of 21,04, 765 people (10,53,486 men, 10,51,070 women and 209 others) were eligible to exercise their franchise from the district in the forthcoming Assembly elections.

There is an increase of 14,431 voters from the previous list published by the district administration in January this year.

Of the eight Assembly constituencies, Palladam Assembly constituency has the maximum electorate of 3,31,962. In the previous list, Tirupur North was having the most number of voters.

In this list, Tirupur North constituency has the second largest electorate of 3,29,833.

Following is the total number of electorate in other six Assembly segments: Dharapuram - 2,38,016; Kangayam - 2,33,763; Avinashi - 2,49,556; Tirupur South - 2,47,643; Udumalpet - 2,48,615 and Madathukulam - 2,25,377.
