MBBS Students protest against exit examinations

The central government has decided to conduct 'exit' examinations for students who are completing their Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) programme. However, back home in Coimbatore this decision of the Central Government was not well received by aspiring doctors and surgeons.

The students of the Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH) and house surgeons today staged a protest before the college against the proposed 'exit exams'. It has been reported that over 200 students and surgeons participated in this protest.

One of the student representatives when interacting with the media said, “We are enrolled in this programme after clearing the written examinations that are conducted by the state and central governments. The central government has now stated that an exit interview will also be conducted. The number of doctors who pass out will come down. Conducting this examination for the government college medical students instead of the students studying medicine in private colleges and in foreign universities is not acceptable. The examinations should be cancelled immediately” he said.
