TASMAC Employees Withdraw Indefinite Protest in Tiruppur

TASMAC employees in Tiruppur have withdrawn their indefinite shop closure protest after receiving assurances from Prohibition and Excise Minister K. Vignesh regarding salary parity, job regularisation, and key operational issues.

Tiruppur: The indefinite strike and shop closure protest initiated by TASMAC employees in Tiruppur was withdrawn following discussions with the government and assurances from the Excise Department.

The protest was staged to highlight several long-pending demands, including salary parity with government employees, regularisation of employment, and improvements in workplace and operational conditions.

According to employee representatives, K. Vignesh assured them that steps would be taken within a month to address issues related to wage revision and regularisation of service.

In addition, the minister reportedly assured that alternative arrangements would be made within 15 days for the implementation of the empty bottle return system through substitute workers, which had been one of the primary concerns raised by employees.

Following the assurance, TASMAC employees announced the temporary withdrawal of the protest and confirmed that all 197 TASMAC outlets across Tiruppur district would resume normal operations from tomorrow.

Employee representatives, however, cautioned that if the government fails to fulfil the promised commitments within the stipulated timeframe, a joint committee would meet to decide on the next phase of protest measures.
