25 Jan Aushadhi Stores that sells medicines at subsidised rate flagged off in Coimbatore

Considering the fact that a large section of our population is finding to difficult to purchase medicines and drugs owing to their high cost, the Central Government has flagged off the Jan Aushadhi scheme. 'Ensuring availability of quality medicines at affordable prices to all' is the key objective of the scheme.  Under this scheme, stores that sell drugs and medicines for a subsidised cost have been inaugurated across our country. Coimbatore has 25 Jan Aushadhi stores.

The owner of Jan Aushadhi store in Ramanathapuram stated that “A majority of people from the weaker sections of our society do not have access to drugs and medicines because of their high cost. Jan Aushadhi stores sell for a subsidised cost more than 500 most commonly used drugs and medicines. This will be of great help to the common man.”

As part of the first phase, about 25 Jan Aushadhi stores are inaugurated in Coimbatore and a source shares that many more stores will be opened in the future.

The Central Government has also issued a National Toll free Helpline number for the Jan Aushadhi store. The helpline number is 1800-180-8080.
