Law-breakers arrested for trading alcohol on Gandhi Jayanthi


Despite, strict orders by the Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation (CCMC) to refrain from trading meat and alcohol on Gandhi Jayanthi. Around 50 kgs of meat was seized and a fine of Rs. 3000 was levied by the Corporation Health Department on the law-breakers at Sundarapuram, Vellalore, Saradha Mill and Ondipudur.

Additionally, based on a tip-off, the city police also conducted raids in several pockets in Coimbatore. Highly placed sources share that TASMAC outlets in Ukkadam, Podanur, Saravanampatti and Pollachi were raided and 70 arrests have been made in this regard. About 500 liquor bottles were seized by the city police.
