Coimbatore ATM case accused involved in Salem train theft too: suspects CBCID


Coimbatore, December 20

The eight accused, who broke into ATMs in the city and burgled Rs.30 lakh, are investigated for their involvement in the Salem train robbery case in which ,5 crore worth old currency were stolen, said the CBCID personnel.

Earlier the eight were nabbed by a Special Police team in Salem and Namakkal districts. They are now being quizzed for the sixth day by the CBCID 

Last year in August, a group of thieves entered the train by making a hole on the top using a welding machine aand the train was from Chennai. They stole Rs. 5 crore worth of old rcurrency.

The accused from North India in ATM case had used the similar welding technique to break into it. So, the CBCID personnel are now questioning them.
