Taxi Driver’s Association members petition Police Commissioner to facilitate return of their original licenses from taxi owners

Following the strict implementation of Transport Minister's order to carry the Original Driving License by all motorists, which is coming into force from September 1, the Taxi Driver’s Association members have petitioned the Commissioner to facilitate the return of their original licenses which are in possession of the taxi owners, when they employ taxi drivers.

The Taxi Driver Association members who met the Commissioner of Police A.Amalraj said that the taxi owners are in the habit of taking possession of the original driving licenses of the drivers who are employed by them.

“When strict enforcement of the road rule is just a day away we are in no position to carry the original license. The Commissioner should intervene and facilitate the handing over the ODLs from the owners”, the taxi drivers said.
