The mysterious death 20-year old Dinesh, a construction worker who have been picked up for interrogation by Tiruppur North Police has snowballed into a controversy with the relatives the deceased alleging that Dinesh had died due to brutal assault unleashed on him by the police in the lock up.
Dinesh, a native of Kumbakonam in Thanjavur District had died in Coimbatore Medical College Hospital after being transferred there from a private hospital. Police claimed that Dinesh was suffering from seizures and was removed to the private hospital.
However Nagaraj, Dinesh’s father had alleged that his son had died due to police brutalities unleased on him in by the police who picked him up “The police have not shown the medical reports to me even though I was by his bed side in the hospital", Nagaraj said.
Demanding that official action against the police official who was behind the death of police officials he said that Dinesh’s neck bone had been damaged in the lock up torture he was made to under go.
Dinesh was working as a construction laborer in Tiruppur when police picked him up along with one more person.
