Collector appeals to cattle farmers to immunise cattle against Foot and Mouth disease.

The 16th round of vaccinating the domestic cattle heads against Foot and Mouth disease will be conducted between September 1-21 and the cattle farmers are requested to vaccinate their cattle against the highly contagious FMD (komari) disease, which spreads through air said District collector T.N. Hariharan.

High milk- yielding hybrid cows are particularly vulnerable to the disease as it might have lost their immunity due to many cycles of calving.

Over 100 lakh cattle heads have been covered under the immunstiaon programme which was kick started in February 2017, the collector further said in his statement.
