Protesting against various issues including the transfer of authority, a section of advocates of District Courts boycotted the courts proceedings today.
Speaking to SimpliCity, Nandakumar, Vice President of Joint committee of Advocates Associations of Tamilnadu and Puducherry said that "The government should not proceed with the recommendation for the common recruitment system for appointment of judges for subordinate courts as it would lead to North Indians working in Tamilnadu courts. This arrangement is not feasible due to language barrier and it would affect the functioning of judiciary".
He also added that "We also condemn the move to rob the issuing of death and birth certificates which was vested with courts is now transferred to Revenue Department. And, the court fee has also been hiked for various services which we condemn unilaterally".
