Saravanakumar, a traditional Vinayakar idol- maker in Sundakamuthur area has come out with a new offering, this Vinayakar Chathurthi, - A Jallikattu Vinayakar, taming a bull like a Tamil youth.

The 12-feet tall Jallikattu Vinayakar statutes would be sanctified in important junctions of city. The Vinayakar would be seen taming a bull in the Jallikattu Vinayakar in the fashion of a bull tamer and it would a different experience for the devotees celebrating Vinayagar Chathurthi.

“I wanted to immortalize the Tamil sport of Jallikattu by the designing and making a Jallikattu Vinayakar, which would attract all sections of the people. The bull taming sport has been revived lately thanks to the prolonged struggle by Tamil youth protesting for the revival of the ancient sport and this is an ode to that colossal effort by the youth”, said Saravanakumar speaking to SimpliCity.

We make Vinayakar idols using ecofriendly materials such as root flour and paper pulp, which is biodegradable and over 350 orders for Vinayakar statues have been placed with us from as far as Rameshwaram, and Kerala apart from the local orders.

The idol-maker who comes out with a new Vinayakar design every year has in the past impressed the devotees with Farmer Vinayakar, Bahubali Vinayakar (with a Gatha), and Chathrapathi Sivaji Vinayakar and so on.

"But the Jallikattu Vinayakar would be special and unique creation, as it is associated with Tamil identity and culture. The three Jallikattu Vinayakar idols would be sanctified in Town Hall (Thomas Street), Edayarpalayam and K.K.Chavadai, and people would be thrilled to offer darshan pujas to the unique Jallikattu Vinayakar this festival season", says Saravanakumar.
