Notices sent to 1500 motorists booked for drunk driven in the city- Durai, Deputy Commissioner of Police

City Traffic Police in a massive drive has booked over 1500 motorists for drunk driving since June, and recommendations were made to respective RTO offices to cancel the driving licenses of these offenders.

Durai, Deputy Commissioner (Traffic wing) said that the practice is to curb drunk- driving in the city is being carried out during weekends. Those who are found to be riding their vehicles in an inebriated condition are taken to task.

He said and noted that traffic police men have carried out checks and sniff tests in various junctions across the city, and the drive would continue. The blood levels of alcohol of these motorists were found to be very high during the check.

A notice of memorandum has also been sent to offenders regarding the punitive action to be carried out in tandem with the punitive procedure.
