The much anticipated merger of rival factions of AIADMK headed by Edapadi Palanisamy and O.Panneerselvam materialized today with the two leaders announcing the merger jointly at the AIADMK headquarters at Royapettah.
Both EPS and OPS later left for MGR and Jayalalithaa Memorial at Marina to pay their obeisance and respect to the founder leader MGR and his political heir apparent J.Jayalalithaa, the two charismatic personalities who led the AIADMK in the past.
Political sources say the OPS would be inducted as Deputy Chief Minister in the Tamilnadu Cabinet and the Ma Foi Pandiarajan would get Tamil development and culture. The reshuffle of the ministry and swearing in of new ministers would take place later in the day at Raj bhavan.
A newly formed AIADMK political committee would handle and administration of the party affairs and OPS has been named as the coordinator of the Political committee, while EPS would be the join coordinator. Leaders such as Munusamy and Vaidyalingam would be deputy coordinators of the party affairs.
It is said that the jailed V.K.Sasikala will be expelled from the party in the party general council meeting which would be convened soon.
