Tamilnadu Vivasaykigal sangam petition to stop construction of check dams across Bhavani river

The farmers, belonging to Tamilnadu Vivasayikal Sangam petitioned District collector TN Hariharan to take immediate measures to stop the construction of check dams across Bhavani River by Kerala Government.

The Kerala Government is constructing check dams at three palces in Padavayal, Seerakaduvu and Chadivayal salaiyur despite opposition from the Tamilnadu farmers.

Urging that the Tamilnadu Government should seek legal remedy through the filing cases in Supreme court of India, to stop the unauthorised construction, they said that the dialogues should also be initiated between the two governments to stop construction of check dam, which would render the Kongu region drought-prone in the long run.
